GeoEye Foundation
Taking Action
The GeoEye Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established on the
belief that we have an obligation and social responsibility to share GeoEye’s technology
and resources to help others map, monitor, and measure the Earth. We focus on three
specific areas:
- Fostering the growth of the next generation of geospatial technology professionals
- Providing satellite imagery to students and faculty to advance research in geographic
information systems and technology as well as environmental studies
- Assisting non-governmental organizations in humanitarian support missions
Since the Foundation's creation in 2007, GeoEye's imagery donations have already
begun providing satellite imagery to professors and students monitoring glaciers
in Antarctica, non-profit agencies mapping protected animal reserves, and a university
study regarding urban sprawl in Mexico, to name a few.
Mission
The GeoEye Foundation is a not-for-profit philanthropic organization headquartered
in Dulles, Virginia. The Mission of the Foundation is to foster the growth of the
next generation of geospatial technology professionals. The Foundation provides
satellite imagery to students and faculty at select educational institutions to
advance research in geographic information systems and environmental studies, and
it also offers select imagery to support non-governmental institutions in their
missions of humanitarian support.
Vision
The Vision of the GeoEye Foundation is to foster the growth of a new generation
of innovative and diverse users who apply geospatial technology to meet local, national,
and global challenges.
